The Kiwi bowler’s consistent performances increased his value, as Rajasthan Royals picked him up for ₹8 crore in the 2022 mega auction.
Deepak Chahar:
Deepak Chahar doesn’t have that x-factor in bowling at the death, and his expertise mainly lies in swinging the new ball. Having played his first IPL match in 2016, his rise started in 2018 for Chennai Super Kings. In 2019, he was at his menacing best, going on to pick 22 wickets—his best IPL tally ever.
The Indian pacer’s new-ball bowling reached a new level in 2021 as he produced a sensational spell against Punjab Kings at Wankhede Stadium, registering figures of 4/13. The India pacer secures his place in any IPL side simply because he is an excellent bowler who can damage the opposition in the powerplay.
Mohammed Siraj:
Just like Chahar, Mohammed Siraj has rapidly evolved with the new ball. His exploits in the 2023 Asia Cup Final, where he registered insane figures of 6/21, showed how he has improved quickly. Known to swing the new ball, Siraj is wily enough to bowl with a wobbled seam in the IPL, which keeps the batters guessing.

From 2021 to 2023, the left-arm pacer was as consistent as someone can be. He picked up 18 wickets in 2021 and took 10 and 17 in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
His new ball expertise ensured that Punjab retained him despite a significant revamp ahead of the 2022 mega IPL auction. In the past year, in the absence of Bumrah, he has regularly bowled with the new ball for the Indian team, which is a crucial addition to his already-glittering resume.
